An Exploding Global Seed Market

Performance Plants Inc. (PPI) is a global leader in the development of seed traits with numerous license agreements marketing PPI’s game-changing technologies.  Weather-proofing crops in the agri-food, biofuel and consumer markets.

Biotech Crops and the Global Seed Market
Biotechnology food crops were first established in 1996.  Today, its widely recognized that new traits developed through biotechnology are important for crop improvement by addressing challenges posed by population increase, climate change, abiotic stress, depletion of aquifers, water shortages and the decline of arable farm land.  Increasing yield has become a main concern for the agri-food and non-food biotechnology industry.
PPI’s technologies provide present day real-world solutions for crop improvement by protecting and enhancing crop yields in major crops globally.
The Seed Market*
In 2012, 170.3 million hectares of biotech crops were planted globally
Herbicide tolerance (HT) crops increased by 7% from 2011-2012 to 100.5 million hectares
Insect resistant crops (IR) crops increased by 9% to 26.1 million hectares in 2012
Stacked traits, the ability to combine traits into a single plant variety, has increased 4% from 42.2 million hectares in 2011 to 43.7 million hectares in 2012
The global market for plant biotechnology crops, which includes the seed sales of HT,  IR and biotech crops for 2011 is US$19.7 billion compared with US$9.0 billion in 2008, an increase of 119%.
Our Patents and Technologies
PPI’s technology portfolio includes a strong global patent portfolio with over 86 (issued and pending) patents, partner and peer reviewed.  PPI’s technology pipeline allows for increased yields and reduces the need for irrigation, particularly in drought and heat stressed areas.  PPI projects favorable success with it’s weather-proofing, biomass and grain yield enhancement technologies.
PPI does not introduce any foreign genes or matter into its products, rather it regulates the plant’s own genes for the desired key trait.  For more information on our leading technologies click PPI technologies…
Our Partners
PPI partners include many leading multinational seed companies such as:
Bayer Crop Science
Ricetech
Agreements with 3 of the top 10 Chinese seed companies
Mahyco, India’s number 1 seed company, covering various crops in multiple countries in South Asia.
